JAN. 2010 - Man desperately
needs community help
I am a social worker
with Crisis Intervention Division of the Dallas Police Dept. In July
of 2009 - I received a call about a homeless male needing
assistance. He is a double amputee (both legs are amputated below
the knees because of illnesses. He is a diabetic and has had
multiple heart problems. He mobilizes via a wheelchair that is old
and needs to be replaced. Mr. Darovar has been in US for many years
- has always worked but because he has lost all his documentation -
and belongings, he became homeless. Placed in shelter - an
organization has supported all his needs up to now. They no longer
are able to continue with the expense and are seeking some support
from the community. Even a small amount of financial assistance
would be greatly appreciated. This group is also in the process of
helping with all the immigration process - but that too is very
costly. Mr. Darovar is 64 years old and has no family here. Many
people contribute to his daily existence - his rent is $600 monthly.
The food and other expenses are not a huge problem up to now, but
any donations would be welcomed. Any assistance or direction
you or your group would be able to provide, would be great. Thank
You, Marilu Velez Thorn, Crisis Intervention Division, Dallas Police
